As in the rest of the country, a program was organized in Alanya on the occasion of March 8, International Women’s Day.
Speaking at the ceremony held for the ‘Women’s Day’, City Council President Nurhan Özcan said, “Women are exposed to discrimination, injustice and violence in all areas of society. This is caused by the policies that lead to gender discrimination and gender inequality in every aspect of society.”
‘8 March International Women’s Day’ was celebrated in Alanya. Alanya Mayor Adem Murat Yücel, Alanya City Council President Nurhan Özcan, politicians, representatives of non-governmental organizations and citizens attended the ceremony held in front of the Atatürk Monument. The celebration ceremony, which started with the laying of a wreath at the monument, continued with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.
Making a joint statement on behalf of the attendees at the end of the program, City Council President Nurhan Özcan said that women’s problems are the same regardless of religion, language, race and political opinion.
