Made a table with maps

Antalya Maturation Institute master trainers Fatma Başalan and Nalan Kanat embroidered 14 maps of the Mediterranean coast in the book ‘Kitab-ı Bahriye’, which includes Piri Reis’ maps, on paper with the miniature technique.

The maps were processed in 2 years. Antalya Maturation Institute Art Design Department master instructors Fatma Başalan and Nalan Kanat were impressed by the work they studied 2 years ago, ‘Kitab-ı Bahriye’, which includes the maps of Piri Reis, who lived in the 16th century. 14 maps of the Mediterranean coast were depicted with miniatures from traditional Turkish arts. Acid-free handmade papers were colored with natural methods and embroidered with classical miniature techniques such as flowing, scanning and dotting, using gouache and watercolors after being sized (a special mixture made from starch and egg white used to polish the paper). The Mediterranean coast maps of Piri Reis, from Fethiye to Iskenderun Bay, completed in 2 stages in 2 years, were studied for the first time by the Antalya Maturation Institute.
