This was stated by the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate at the SPIEF-2023 session “Ensuring Global Food Security in Modern Conditions”; Professor of Tuscia University (Italy) Riccardo Valentini.
“It seems to me that the Russian Federation will play a very important role globally, because it is the largest country in the world. Potentially agricultural land, we have already studied this issue together with the Moscow Agricultural Academy named after K. A. Timiryazev, tested various scenarios and came to the conclusion that by 2050 it is possible to increase [agricultural production in the Russian Federation],” Valentini said.
According to him, Russia has serious potential, but this is important not only for the country, but for the whole world. The reason is that now there are problems with agricultural products in tropical regions. To solve the problem, new lands are needed.
“Places where you can produce and somehow support this situation for the future and cope with the challenges of the future. As far as technologies, new fertilizers, new lands are concerned, everything is important for the Russian Federation, everything is important for the whole world. Very important,” Valentini added.
